The scheduled quarterly general membership meeting of the Unocal Gulf Coast Alumni Club (UGCAL) was called to order by President Steve Ohnimus at 6:45 PM on December 14, 2011 at the River Band Country Club after approximately two hours of socializing, dining and entertainment provided by the Houston Choral Showcase. They have been providing lively choral/vocal entertainment for over 77 years. We enjoyed a variety of holiday tunes. As a show choir, their performances were enhanced by original choreography, staging and distinctive costumes. Steve wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and scheduled the next quarterly meeting for February 9, 2012. The only business to be conducted was the election of directors and officers as required by the Club’s constitution. All directors agreed to continue for another year with the exception of Tim Lauer. As required by the constitution, Steve appointed three members to comprise a nominating committee, Dennis Butler, Fred Govreau, and Jack Schanck. Fred reported that they nominated Wiley Barrow for Director at Large replacing Tim Lauer and agreed to nominate Steve Ohnimus, Gene Williams, Dale Putnam and Gary Najdowski for their current positions. It was moved and seconded that all be selected. There were no opposing votes of the approximate 70 Club members in attendance. Steve thanked last years board and congratulated Wiley, and thanked the nominating committee for their due diligence and Tim for his dedicated service since being one of our original founding directors. The business section of the function was then adjourned about 7 PM and was followed by door prizes donated by Julio Quintana (Tesco), Dot Mitchell (The Gentry Group), Graydon Laughbaum, Fred Shimek (Chevron), Mike Adamec (Anadarko), Gene Williams (Merrill Lynch) and the Board. In a seperate matter, Steve Ohnimus appointed Stan Hanaoka and Bob Ficks as our auditors for 2012.
With best regards,
Steve Ohnimus, President UGCAC
